Orienteering - May 7

5/5/2016

We will be competing in teams of two or individually, based on age group. So far, seven cadet corps have RSVP’d to the event. This means that you will be competing against 100 or more other cadets from the sea, air, and army cadet corps in Calgary. More importantly, you will get to meet and enjoy the day with your peers in the Canadian Cadet Movement

General Information

Drop Off: 0845 hrs – Fish Creek Park
  • We will be meeting at the furthest west part of Fish Creek Park. This can be accessed by taking Anderson Road SW (Westward) to 37th Street SW.
  • You will turn left onto 130th Avenue SW and take an immediate right turn onto Woodpath Road SW.
  • Once in the park, follow Woodpark road until you reach the third parking lot on the right. This is the drop off and pick up location

Meals: Please Pack Lunch & Snacks
  • Please pack an easy to eat lunch that has high protein levels.
  • Bring at minimum a 1 Litre water bottle. It will be 27ºC on Saturday, and there are no water refill points.
  • Feel free to bring snacks such as granola bars or fruit.

Canteen Available! Bring some change
  • 3125 will be providing a small canteen for everyone to enjoy.
  • Water, sports drinks, granola bars, chips, etc will be available for purchase.

What to Wear/Bring
  • Orienteering is a physical sport and the weather is in our favour this weekend.
  • We recommend a good pair of running shoes or light hiking shoes as the base for your gear.
  • A light pair of outdoor pants or shorts is recommended.
  • A hat, pair of sunglasses, and some sunscreen wouldn’t hurt!

Parent Volunteers
  • If any parents would like to stay to help, parent volunteers with a valid VSS are more than welcome. Many hands make light work and any assistance is greatly appreciated.
Pick Up: 1530 hrs – Fish Creek Park
  • After 1530 hrs, pick up of your cadet is permitted.
We look forward to seeing you bright and early on Saturday morning for a great day of orienteering!
