Unlike the other FTXs throughout the year, when cadets follow a set planning and move as a team, the annual Solo Survival challenge is a weekend when a few selected cadets depends on none other than THEMSELVES.
This activity will take place at Mountain View Sports & Handicap Facility (51.664224, -114.590706)
on 14-15 April. Using the skills and knowledge they've learned, the participants will need to be self sustain for 24 hours, under the supervision of officers and seniors staffing cadets.
Frequent Q & A :
What will they sleep in? Cadet will sleep in improvised shelters they each build themselves during the activity.
What will they eat? Cadets will need to eat a hearty meal prior to the exercise, ONE ration will be ready for them at the end of the activity.
What will they bring? This exercise is to simulate a situation where a cadet need to self sustain while waiting for rescue when lost. What they wear onto the activity, a survival kit, a 4L jug of water, and some basic tools will be all they can bring. Each cadet will bring a change of clothes which will be kept at HQ for time of need.
Are they alone all weekend? No. Once the cadets are 'scattered' in their designated areas, the officers and sr. cadets will check on them in rotation throughout the day and overnight to ensure safety and well being.
Challenge Cadets:
Funk; Fink; Roman (Jr); Scheelar; Loewen-Black; Nail
Staff Cadets
Cairns; Dale; Treslove; Bridgam; Roman (Sr); Blain
If you're not able to attend, please let the officers know ASAP so the opportunity can go to someone else.
