Dear Cadets, Parents, and Family
With the recently confirmed case(s) of COVID-19 in Alberta and the first related death in British Columbia, we understand that there will be increased concern and uncertainty about our own risk or steps to take.
Cadets training will continue as normal, however, cadets or his/her family members who are experiencing any flu-like symptoms should stay home and notify their Section Commander(s) following standard normal procedure.
We want to remember that there are the two cases in Alberta and we don't want to create any unnecessary angst. Understandably, this doesn’t lessen the concern we have for one another or the anxiety and stress we might feel about the potential spread of the virus, especially given the amount of media coverage COVID-19 receives. Please respect each other’s right to individual opinion and approach to the situation.
Alberta Health Services continue to work collaboratively with partners across Alberta to ensure an efficient and coordinated response to any potential case of COVID-19 in Alberta and encourages all Albertans to follow routine infection prevention measures, for any illness. These include washing hands often with warm soap and water and staying home from activities if you are feeling unwell.
If you are feeling unwell and are uncertain about your healthcare needs, please call Health Link – which is staffed by registered nurses and available 24/7 – by dialing 811 from any phone in Alberta. For additional information on COVID-19 and advice for the public, please visit the World Health Organization or Alberta Health Services sites.

Please avoid adding to the already existing speculation as result of the increased media interest and chatter on different social media channels. If you have a question or concern in regards to cadets training, please email the officers directly 3125army@cadets.gc.ca or 3125calgaryhighlanders@gmail.com
Thank you
